Hi all,
I met my future wife at a Joseph Arthur show and we were thinking of using as a symbol one of is tunes for the first dance at our wedding. Eventhough I love all his songs I cant really think of a song which would suit a first dance.
Any ideas?
Cheers

My wife and I danced to Honey and The Moon at our wedding. I know it's a bit cliche now because of American Wedding, but that first line sums up my wife pretty well, "if your weren't real I'd make you up."
I also thought You're So True would be a good track, if you're both strange. |

How about "She Paints Me Gold"? _________________ "You said I have to become a dancer....and started shooting at my feet." |

Hey-lo
My friend Audrey pointed this thread out to me - It's absolutely romantic and I am sure JA would be touched by this
We came down to three songs. One was mentioned already above.
1- She paints me Gold
2- Jumpin' In with You (one of my personal faves)
3- I love you from Nuclear Daydream (UK promo. One of the bonus tracks). Audrey thinks this would be the perfect wedding song and I will not disagree with how beautiful it is. I think she is right that it is perfect
Audrey also mentioned 'You're so True'. I agree it's another great song but she pointed out something that I completely forgot to think about - 'how does one 'slow dance' to it"? lol!
Congratulations ! I wish you both happiness <3

i wanna get u alone!!
just kidding... unless the future in-laws have a crazy sense of humor!
i was just listening to one of JA's live recordings (it's driving me crazy that i never labeled it and now have no idea what show it was) and at some point, someone calls out a request (i think it was in the sun?), saying it was their wedding song. (and if anyone recognizes knows what show that was, do let me know!!)
anyway, congratulations... if you feel like elaborating, i'm sure i'm not the only romantic sap around here who would be interested in hearing the extended version of that story! |

That's cute!
I don't think you are the only 'romatic sap' What an awesome way to meet someone. I am bringing my BF to Montreal next week for 4 days to see JA's shows and I am hoping he will enjoy them. We have different tastes in music.
Not long ago he told me his alarm clock woke him up playing Dylan and he went on and on about what a terrible way to wake up hearing such a dreadful voice. I said nothing and then he also included Hendrix as part of the 'people he thought she have never been vocalists'.
I don't quite understand because I think it is their unique sound that makes them the legends that they are. I was really concerned he wasn't going to appreciate JA's music but he told me 'atleast he can sing'. Sigh.
Sorry, I don't mean to hijack the thread but I find it incredibly important to have somewhat similar tastes in music in a relationship. He's not really into music and I don't really quite know what that means? :O
Yes, I would love to hear more about how someone meets their soul mate at a JA concert! <3
Have you chosen a song yet?
Avec reconnaissance,
Michelle xx |

Thanks for all your advices!
The only song I have never heard of and that I cant find anywere on Joseph's website a sample to listen to (or even just lyrics) is the song "I love you".
Anyone knows a place were I can listen to a sample or read the lyrics?
Cheers
ps: I will comme back with our story and the song we have chosen. We are also thinking of the song "Love never ask you to lie". But that not the most positive song....

Hi Jim,
I am glad you found the song ('I love you') It's beautiful isn't it? Wow, an international love story!!! That is even more romantic, lol.
You said she is from Montréal? Will she be going to the concerts this coming week? (I am sure that is probably a rhetorical question, lol)
I am sure she will love the song. It's a hard one not to.
Take good care!

Hahaha! Do I scream out 'Where's the rabidog?' That'll be a crowd pleaser, LOL!
Awesome - I am the one who looks like Tina Fey (but dyed her hair blond to avoid that). I speak French but it's my own version....a funny kind. There are never enough words. I am trying my best to androgynise (sp?) the French language...what's with all the feminin and masculin? It's so sexist...
Maybe I'll see ya! If not, enjoy the show! |

haha, i'll look for you! i just dyed my hair blacker than black, short with bangs, and you can also recognize me because there is a glass of red wine permanently fused to my right hand. so i shouldn't be hard to spot. (real name is brynn)
sorry, jim, i think we have officially hijacked your thread! |
